April 13, 2022

Nyle Water Heating Systems, a Brewer, Maine based global leader in the development and manufacture of heat pump water heating products for residential and commercial applications, announces the appointment of Bill Paulus as Chief Operating Officer.  Bill will oversee the company’s plans to accelerate growth, scale manufacturing, and firmly establish its leadership in the growing market for heat pump technology to significantly reduce carbon emissions while providing reliable and economical hot water to customers around the world.

“I am absolutely thrilled to be joining Nyle at such an exciting time, when demand for efficient, carbon-free water heating solutions is increasing exponentially, and looking forward to leading the Nyle team to meet that demand while helping to provide additional good-paying manufacturing jobs to the people of Mid- and Down East Maine.  I am grateful for the confidence that has been placed in me and look forward to helping Nyle Systems grow and advance the use of heat pump technology as a powerful solution for a wide array of applications,” said Paulus.

“I first got to know Bill Paulus last summer as an outside advisor to help us scale up our manufacturing. He proved to be a very effective leader and a great fit with the organization. I am speaking for all of Nyle when I say that we are very pleased to have him on board as a full member of the team,” said Ton Mathissen, Founder.

Paulus brings more than 30 years’ experience in lean manufacturing and product development to his position. Prior to becoming part of the Nyle team, he was COO and later CEO at Cerahelix, a Maine based startup specializing in ceramic nanofiltration technology.  He also served as Vice President of Manufacturing & Supply Chain at Blackmore Sensors & Analytics, Vice President of Manufacturing at Pittsburgh Glass Works, and held several operations and product development leadership roles at Celgard LLC. He also held senior management positions at Delphi (now a part of the global technology company BorgWarner), including Director of Business Planning and Business Development & Ventures Director for various operating units. Paulus began his career as Senior Manufacturing Engineer at General Motors.

“Bill’s expertise in large-scale manufacturing is a welcome addition as we look ahead to what is needed for Nyle to meet the growing need for our products. Heat pumps like we manufacture here at Nyle are key to enabling rapid decarbonization in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. With growing awareness around the need to decarbonize the built environment, there is increasing demand for our emission-free water heating technology across the country. I am delighted Bill has joined the team to drive quality-focused production capacity,”  said Ryan Hamilton, Chief Commercial Officer

His credentials also include three Masters Degrees – two from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University in Finance and Strategic Management, and another, in Solid State Science, from The Pennsylvania State University. He also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Ceramic Engineering at Alfred University.
